For over 50 years, Babaian Rug Company has served the Milwaukee area in cleaning, repair, and sales of Oriental rugs, carpets, and textiles from around the world. Babaians is a third generation, family-owned business started in Armenia in 1910 by Alexander Babaian and passed down to his 3 sons in the early 40’s. Garry Babaian moved to Milwaukee around 1949 and established himself as Babaian Rug Company Garry’s life long dream was realized around 1950 in the form of a cleaning plant and workroom where he could practice his craft and provide for his family.

With quality, patience, and knowledge learned from his father, Garry built his reputation and established himself in Milwaukee. This ideology is not lost or forgotten in today’s fast paced world.

We have shopped the world to bring some of the most exciting floor coverings and textiles to Milwaukee’s most exciting area. Our showroom at 3804 w. It is recorded that the early Babylonians were making soap around 2800 B.C. and the Phoenicians knew it around 600 B.C. These early references to soap and soap making were for the use of soap in the cleaning of textile fibers such as wool and cotton in preparation for weaving into cloth. Garry learned from his father Alexander the art of making soap and for many years produced his own along with other natural cleaning agents. Today this is not practical as the raw materials alone are impossible to acquire.  Regardless there are numerous venues to secure the natural product’s we require when working with your precious textiles.
